Four pathways to build power and transform systems, rooted in community.

Civic Engagement & Education

We deliver bilingual, culturally relevant civic education—especially in rural and monolingual-speaking communities with historically low voter turnout. Our workshops break down how government works, how to vote, and why every election matters.

Citizenship & Voter Readiness

From naturalization support to voter registration drives, we walk alongside immigrants and new citizens on the path to civic participation and political voice.

Candidate Recruitment & Training

We don’t just mobilize voters—we grow leaders. Poderosa Academy identifies emerging leaders and equips them with the skills, tools, and mentorship to run for office and govern with accountability.

Co-Governance & Leadership Development

We create collaborative pathways for communities and elected leaders to govern together. Our model emphasizes transparency, shared power, and community accountability beyond the ballot box.

Mariana Sandoval

Mariana Sandoval

Mariana Sandoval proudly serves as State Representative for Arizona's Legislative District 23, where she is an Ex‑Officio Member of the Arizona Latino School Board Association and a Board Member of Sleep in Heavenly Peace. Her experiences at the local level strengthened her resolve to fight for stronger public schools statewide, leading her to run for the legislature. She was elected to the Arizona State House of Representatives in November 2022 and has served in that role since January 2023. With more than two decades of public service, Mariana approaches her work in the State Legislature with one goal: to make life better for the people she serves and ensure every Arizonan has access to opportunity, dignity, and a voice in their government.

Anna Hernandez

Anna Hernandez

Councilwoman Anna Hernandez proudly serves the people of Phoenix's District 7. The daughter of Mexican immigrants and a lifelong Phoenician, Anna brings her lived experience, strong values, and deep connection to community into her work every day. Her path into public service is rooted in personal loss: in 2019, her brother Alex was killed by Phoenix police during a mental health crisis, and her father later died of COVID-19 after being forced back to work. These tragedies moved Anna to fight for safety, care, and respect for all families. In 2022, she was elected to the Arizona State Senate representing District 24, defeating an incumbent in the Democratic primary before running unopposed. As a senator, she became known as a staunch housing advocate, working to increase housing supply through faster permitting and less restrictive zoning. In 2024, she was elected to the Phoenix City Council, working to build a Phoenix where everyone can thrive.
